Stay informed as NAGABA Women Youth and Needy Association takes its first steps as a newly registered community-based organisation preparing to serve western Uganda.
NAGABA Women Youth and Needy Association Founded
On 19th August 2024, eight women — our Golden Youth — formally adopted the constitution establishing NAGABA as a community-based organisation. Born out of a shared recognition that individual efforts were not enough to address the challenges faced by rural women, youth, and those affected by HIV/AIDS, these founders organised themselves to collectively pursue social and economic transformation.
The application for CBO registration has been submitted to the District Community Development Officer. We are now preparing to launch our first programmes and invite donors, partners, and community members to walk this journey with us.
Our Journey So Far
Constitution Adopted
The NAGABA constitution was formally adopted by our eight founding members, setting out our aims, membership categories, and governance structure.
CBO Registration Applied
We formally requested registration as a Community Based Organisation through the Rubaare Town Council — the first step towards full operational status.
Programme Planning Underway
Our management committee is actively planning our first programmes in HIV/AIDS awareness, skills training, and agricultural livelihoods.
What Comes Next
We are in a foundational phase. Here is what we are working toward in the coming months — with your support.
Launch HIV/AIDS Awareness
Our first community outreaches will bring education, prevention information, and testing referrals to families. We are recruiting trained facilitators and securing materials.
Begin Skills Training
Tailoring and knitting workshops will form the first cohort of our skills programme. We need sewing machines, fabric, and training space to get started.
Pilot Agricultural Projects
Bee keeping, fish farming, poultry, goat rearing, and cattle rearing pilots will demonstrate sustainable income models that members can replicate.
Build Partnerships
We are actively seeking partners — NGOs, CBOs, FBOs, government bodies, and individual donors — who share our commitment to empowering rural women and youth.
